Laura Cortina was born in McAllen, Texas in 1984. She received a B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Texas – Pan American in 2007, and an M.S. in Diabetes Education and Management from Teachers College at Columbia University in 2019.
As a diabetes educator, she helps individuals with diabetes learn the knowledge and skills needed to be able to better manage their diabetes in tandem with their healthcare providers. Her main areas of interest are utilizing new and innovative ways to ease some of the burden of diabetes self-management such as using smart pens, insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors.
